This is posted as a thread of messages, so read the bottom one first if you care...

Well maybe you should start going to great lengths of effort on stuff. Maybe your life would be occupied something so your mind doesn't wander to the point that you feel the need to email people who made a cartoon you didn't like.

Because - get this - it's a total waste of time.

I'm not going to stop making stuff because you told me it sucks. If anything, you have made it more worthwhile. The sheer amusement I get from hate mail almost makes it worth doing what I do on it's own.

Over 90% of the mail I get is positive. People DO like what I make. And honestly, I don't think I would be satisfied if that 10% of people out there - like you - also liked me. To know that the majority of people who care enough to mail me actually like my stuff - but - there is a small percentage of people that HATE me and get riled up enough to spend the time dropping me a (sometimes very long winded) message telling me how bad I suck and that I need to stop making comedy is to know that I am doing exactly what I set out to do: piss off people that don't get myself and people like me for the amusement of myself and people like me.

So, Jimmy Jazz and company, please stop wasting your time. I work in an art that I believe in and won't stop. It's pretty easy to ignore me, though. But hell, if you and the other people that have to make sure I know my work is shit want to keep doing it, go ahead. I am not insulted or discouraged by it so if you all want to keep making me laugh, keep it up.
