12 Days

I kind of like this whole "having a goal and getting people in on it" thing. I am going to have to figure out something to campaign for after this MTV Movie Award nonsense. Because I am going to be honest, this is fun as hell. Doing anything and everything I can to get people to vote for my video on some website and seeing people actually doing it - it's satisfying.

It's also just awesome that people like the videos I am doing. It's quite neat. Because I'm not really much of a typical internet video guy. I don't collaborate with other internet people - and I do that because when I see other people's collaboration videos I consider it painful as HELL (I get douche chills every time I see one). I don't do request videos. I don't do videos about memes. I don't do "tag" stuff or whatever it is. In fact, I am really not much of a viral video guy at all. I'm just a guy making videos about stuff I find funny going on in the world.

I just don't think that if you do humor, you should pander to internet dorks. I don't think you should pander to anyone. I got this in my inbox today:

dude if you wanna win america in battle to fucking get an MTV award dumb your shit down ..seriously everyone will not get the video ok ? ..ur shits funny but just please dumb it down if u want america to love you.

To which, I reply: I'm glad you like what I do - but what I am doing is not about getting everyone to like me, it's about the people that get what I do laughing at the expense of the people who don't. And if the people who get it go to http://www.petercoffin.com/mtv and help by voting my video (my parody of The Bourne Ultimatum) up, we could actually get something mildly non-standard onto MTV. I think that would be cool.

So everyone, get down with the cause. Or your bad self. Either one would be fine, but I'd prefer the cause.

Have a great evening!

13 Days: MTV Nomination!

Alright, guys. Here's the latest on the MTV nom.

The video is gradually proving itself bigtime. So thank you to all of those who have helped. I REALLY appreciate it. I say that a lot when I write about this, but I don't think I can say it enough. The fact that a lot of people legitimately care enough to take some kind of action toward getting something I made nominated for an MTV Award is awesome. Granted, it's not an Oscar or anything, but hell - it's awesome people want to help push this crap into the public eye.

And I say crap because really - I am not doing anything life-changing at PeterCoffin.com. I am having fun. The fact that people like seeing the fun I have here enough to help get it out there in many different ways... it's great. Because it is also hard work sometimes. Sometimes it's even frustrating! But having an idea and just making it, regardless of the obstacles - and even the consequences sometimes - is very rewarding in itself. The fact that there are other people out there that think it's even kind of amusing is awesome.

So anyway, anyone who hasn't helped out yet, you still have 13 days to. Not that it isn't more urgent than giving more money to Obama. It's WAY more urgent. This is a REAL campaign, nothing like Barack's. When he sees this website - when he sees this ORGANIZATION... he can't help but think "I wish I could put something together like that."

All the best to him, though. Good luck with your nomination stuff, Mr. Obama. I'm sure if you copy/paste the stuff I write and replace "MTV Movie Awards nomination" with "President of The United States nomination," you may even have a chance.

So anyway, anyone who wants to help me get closer to being nominated for an MTV Movie Award, hit up petercoffin.com/mtv and take a minute to vote for me! It's extremely easy, and it really would be kickass.

Have a great evening, everyone!

15 Days/MTV Movie Award Nom UPDATE!

So thus far, my parody of The Bourne Ultimatum has gotten the biggest response on DailyMotion, the site on which I could possibly get nominated for an MTV Movie Award for best spoof. There are more hits and more votes on that video by FAR. I'm really REALLY thankful for everyone who has helped as of right now.

But it is not clinched yet! This thing has got a way to go before we actually get this thing nominated. 15 days is a long time, and the video can either get WAY ahead or be put WAY behind - anything is possible!

So I really need anyone with a couple minutes that likes my work to get on DailyMotion and rate my parody of The Bourne Ultimatum 5/5 stars. And comment! Tell them why this one should be nominated and why it should WIN!

Register an account http://www.dailymotion.com/register

Vote/Watch/Comment: http://www.dailymotion.com/group/SpoofToWin/video/x2pwa0_the-bourne-ultimatum-parody_fun

I'm going to be going on Right Now with John Jay next week on Tuesday at 3pm. So anyone in Southwest Michigan and the surrounding area can tune in at 94.9FM and 1400AM.

Thanks for the help and watching my videos! I'll update more soon!

17 Days

An update on the ACTUALLY important grassroots campaign going on right now in our country. The campaign to get me, Peter Coffin, nominated for an MTV Movie Award.

Hell, part of the campaign is to just seem as cool as Barack Obama by updating everyone on my campaign and how great it is every day. But his isn't important, just cool. Mine's IMPORTANT.

My spoof on The Bourne Ultimatum has a lot more views and a lot more ratings than the other videos in the running. Meaning it's getting a response. There are obviously some bad ratings - as it currently has a 3 star rating. But it is actually getting a response. More than anyone can say for the other videos.

But the fact that it's only a 3 star video means I need EVERYONE that has not rated the thing to get onto DailyMotion and do it.

Register an account here: http://www.dailymotion.com/register

And watch/rate the video 5 stars here: http://www.dailymotion.com/group/SpoofToWin/video/x2pwa0_the-bourne-ultimatum-parody_fun

Thanks a lot guys. Have a great day!

18 Days

Alright - we've effectively made a dent on DailyMotion for getting this video nominated for an MTV award. I know not everyone that visits PeterCoffin.com or is one of my MySpace friends has voted for the video - because if you all did, there would be a LOT more votes.

I make these videos because I love making silliness. It's a great deal of fun (most of the time) and getting the positive feedback I get from all of you makes it more fun (all of the time). And I seriously thank you all for watching stuff.

And we have 18 days to make it completely apparent that this video destroys all the other spoofs on every level. Because it isn't just a spoof - it is a spoof of spoofs! It's so dumb and doesn't even make jokes about the movie. It's just called the same thing.

This is a grassroots operation, like Obama's campaign except WAY more important. So I need anyone with a couple of minutes to do me a big favor. Register an account at DailyMotion and vote my video 5/5. The links to do both things are right here:

REGISTER A DAILYMOTION ACCOUNT

WATCH AND RATE THE VIDEO HERE!

Anyone who takes the time, I sincerely thank you and let me know you voted either on my site or on MySpace so I can take a minute to personally thank you.

I have a chance at being nominated for an MTV Movie Award

Hey everyone! I have a slight chance at being nominated for an MTV Movie Award for best spoof for my parody of The Bourne Ultimatum!

If you go here:

http://www.dailymotion.com/group/SpoofToWin/video/x2pwa0_the-bourne-ultimatum-parody_fun

and rate my video 5/5 stars, that greatly increases my chances of being nominated. Even just watching it and sending it to friends helps!

I'd really appreciate it if people would help out - and also want to just thank you for watching my videos over the past couple years.

Have a great day!

Vote for the guys at TomGreen.com!

This was posted at TomGreen.com:
Tom Green's House Tonight has been nominated for a Webby! Click here to vote for the show: http://pv.webbyawards.com/account/pv_login

You have to register, but it only takes a few seconds. We've been nominated in the Online Film and Video category under Variety shows. This is really cool, we're one of the last few finalists, so it's down to a few entries! Be sure to tell your friends to vote as well! Spread the word!

I'm a fan of Mr. Green and company and what they are doing over there, so vote for them and while you are there, check out what they do. The live show they produce from his house is pretty sweet.

Embarrassing

I just realized I pretty much make stuff that is completely embarrassing. I watched the new video, which I am uploading now. I am a jackass.

First off, I should not be allowed to look like this (and nor should anyone else):

Second, I don't think I should be allowed to dance. Especially with people finding stuff I am doing. A few people who come in and buy stuff from me where I work now visit this website. And that means they are eventually going to see me dancing like an ass. And I am dancing like an ass on purpose, but that doesn't change the fact that they are going to come in and say "hey dude, we totally saw you dancing."

But if you think my singing's out of time, it makes me money. I don't know why. No I don't know why. Anymore.

SO CUM ON FEEL THE NOISE! GIRLS ROCK YOUR BOYS...

Greenscreen sucks

I learned a lesson this week - greenscreen is a bitch. I made a song and music video called "I Wish I Were a Polygamist" (You'll see it sometime tonight, I believe). I did my hair up in a 90's flat top and donned a red leather vest and some glasses that say (very small and up in the corner) "GRAND PRIX."

It's really 90's gay. Why are there never any gay polygamists? Why are there never like a hundred duded married to one chick? Why does polygamy typically mean "dude and a bunch of chicks?" And the dude is usually old and pervert-looking.

I digress, though. The point was that green screen makes life difficult. Especially in HD, because HD is already a bit of a bitch to work with on my 2004 Dell Inspiron laptop computer. Yep, all this stuff is done on a laptop - interesting fact. Some people actually mail wanting to know stuff like that. Why? I do not know.

But hopefully sometime in the future I'll get me a nice, awesome, benchmark-killing desktop to sit at a desk in a house that I myself own. Then I won't have to render test passes that take 2 hours to see where my mouth doesn't match up with the song and where there should be something that isn't me sining.

Also, I noticed Chris Cocker looks like an anime chick. I am going to make a video called "Chris Cocker is an Anime Chick." Because it seems like most anime chicks end up having penises, anyway.

I am SO glad that shit doesn't turn me on.

I'm taller when I have my chair with me

Hey guys. I am posting to let you know I am going to attempt to get two new videos out this week. One I am about to go to film right now. I'm going to demonstrate to you how to get free fast food.

The other is going to be a BIG production called "I Wish I was a Polygamist." Going to be a hybrid of cartoon and live action with some very cool graphics. The song is done, I REALLY like it. It is the most dancable one I have made to date. So get ready to tap your toes and have multiple wives!

"Peter Coffin is a Douche" price gouging

The widely unsuccessful chart-bottoming Peter Coffin DVD release, "Peter Coffin is a Douche," has had it's price raised.

The reason? Well, to put it on Amazon.com, it has to cost more. BUT on the plus side, it will be available on Amazon.com in a couple weeks. When it IS available, by the way, I will be asking everyone who comes here to get an Amazon account and review it!

So, more info soon. There will be a new video hopefully tomorrow or Monday.

Site Changes!

As you can no doubt see, there have been some changes to the site! First off, the latest videos are no longer going to be put into blog posts - the blog posts relating to new videos will have some interesting info you can only find on the main site and also what you can do to help make the video sucessful. Like digg buttons and the like.

Great new stuff on the way, should be a new one up over the weekend! Thanks for sticking with me.

April Fools

As you may have guessed, I didn't actually fall down the stairs. I just happen to be a special effects wizard on top of a comedian. I've recieved a lot of mail asking if I am ok. I am just fine and I am appreciative of the concern. But it's April 1st, everyone.

Ok, let's get down to real business, then.

So where is PeterCoffin.com going next? You're seeing new content a little more often now and that is because things are finally starting to pick up. I'm hoping to get to the point of putting out 2 videos a week: one cartoon and one reality-based bit. Does that mean I'll be pestering people on the street more? Yes. Yes it does. I'll probably be doing that kind of stuff over weekends.

I'm also trying to figure out something fun to give away to people who have been die hard into what I do. Some type of contest. I want to give away some kind of real awesome thing, something big.

I also want to start mailing out flyers and stickers to anyone that wants them to put all over their hometown. The theme for the year is "Everyone is Wrong about Everything" (the name of the next DVD). So we really want to stick it to the man. And the mule. Everyone. We want to stick it to everyone.

You can bet that you will see me doing that. I recently took down Steve-O's new spiritual attitude. I didn't want to, but if I am going to be an equal opportunity offender, Steve-O is as much a target as Hillary Clinton and Jesus. Everyone's going to get it this year.

I've been getting some emails asking how people can help with what I do. People can help best by emailing my videos to their friends. It's very easy. Just go to the video's page in my video section and click share. Or embed it on your MySpace page, post it in a bulletin - whatever.

I'm going to be starting an ongoing project that is pretty much going to be the point of my work from now on. I'm trying to come up with a name right now, I'm thinking something like "Assault on Normality." I like that one. Or "Stability Takedown." Or "Rational Blitzkrieg." That last one was a little lame. Or not. Tell me what you thing. I may not use the most popular one, but I'd at least like to hear what people think.

Stay tuned.
